Lessons - Jazzfiddler

Larry Lyles believes in personalizing the lesson to the student’s needs.  Currently, his students range from pre-kindergarten to retirees, some considering careers, many just having fun, some with classical interests, others with bluegrass or jazz improvisational goals.  All students start with the traditional basics, and are required to be able to read music prior to branching out to specific interests.

A typical lesson consists of 3 facets.
SCALES:  The building blocks of music.  Often ignored until exam or audition time, we use them to shape hands and fingers, technical exercises, and intonation development.
ETUDES:  Study pieces designed to train you in various situations that come up in music.
REPERTOIRE:  Study of literature for your particular instrument or interests.  Assistance with school orchestra literature may preclude this portion when needed.

Instruction is offered in violin, viola, and cello at all levels.  Mr Lyles also offers instruction in beginning/intermediate piano or keyboard, as well as mandolin, guitar, and electric bass.
